Assistant Professor (Public History)

Duties & Responsibilities

Teach an introductory methodology course in Public History and two courses per term (one course in the first term).
Conduct research with an active publication agenda in Public History.
Engage meaningfully with community, governmental, and non-governmental organizations.
Mentor and supervise students in their academic development.

Hold a PhD in History or closely related field by August 1, 2027.
Demonstrate an active research agenda with clear plans for future publications.
Show commitment to teaching and mentoring students.
Provide evidence of public history practice and community engagement with demonstrated social impact.
Experience in Digital Humanities and innovative public-facing methodologies is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Chinese is advantageous; teaching conducted in English.

Full-time, substantiation-track position (equivalent to U.S. tenure-track); initial contract of up to three years, potentially leading to longer-term appointment or substantiation after six years or earlier upon special application.
