Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct structured field observations of water buffalo behaviour at multiple sites across South Lantau Island.
- Deploy and operate a drone to map wallows and monitor buffalo distribution.
- Extract, manage, and clean large behavioural and spatial datasets.
- Perform statistical analyses including GLMMs, social network analysis, and social dominance analyses.
- Assist with preparation of research reports and manuscripts.
- Work in early mornings, late afternoons, and seasonally challenging conditions across South Lantau Island.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Animal Behaviour, Ecology, Zoology, Conservation Science, or related discipline.
- Experience conducting field-based behavioural observations of animals.
- Strong data management skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in outdoor environments including hot and humid conditions.
- Working knowledge of R for basic and advanced statistical analyses.
- Strong interest in developing quantitative skills and contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
