Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the project leader in developing automated airframe inspection processes using robotic and thermography technologies.
- Design and prototype continuum robots with enhanced capabilities for confined-space fuel tank inspections.
- Develop lightweight induction thermography heads and vision systems for detecting cracks beneath sealant.
- Contribute to continuum robot path planning techniques for surface inspection applications.
- Implement TRACE systems using RFID tagging and location marking for anomaly tracking.
- Collaborate with industrial partners to ensure project deliverables meet sponsor requirements.
- Generate engineering documentation following Centre procedures for data development and evaluation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Postdoctoral Fellow applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent qualification.
- Research Associate/Assistant applicants must hold a master's degree or relevant advanced qualification.
- Strong background in robotics, mechanical engineering, or related disciplines required.
Appointment
- Full-time — 12 to 24 months (two Postdoctoral Fellow posts and two Research Associate/Assistant posts available)
