The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library invites applications for a Project Co-ordinator II to support the management of the Open Journals Hub (OJH) Project.
Reporting to the Open Science Librarian, the appointee will be assigned to Research & Learning Support in CUHK Library. Duties include (a) serving as the primary liaison for OJH, co-ordinating website content updates and technical requirements with external vendors to ensure platform stability; (b) providing essential copyediting and typesetting services for participating OJH journals to ensure all articles meet professional scholarly standards prior to publication; (c) acting as a dedicated support contact for participating journal editors and contributors, handling enquiries, and providing technical guidance; (d) designing and producing promotional and marketing materials specifically for the OJH project, and assisting in the organization of related events and activities; (e) providing administrative support to the Open Science Librarian on OJH-related matters, including the recording and compiling of project usage statistics; and (f) performing other tasks as assigned. Shift duties in the evenings, at weekends or on holidays at library helpdesks are required.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the Humanities or Social Sciences; (ii) at least 2 years’ post-qualification work experience, preferably in an academic library or scholarly publishing environment; (iii) thorough understanding of the Chicago Manual of Style and proven experience in copyediting both English and Traditional Chinese materials; (iv) proficiency in using Adobe InDesign and other production/design software; (v) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (vi) strong attention to detail, patience, time management skills, and the ability to work independently; and (vii) excellent interpersonal and communication skills, combined with a customer-focused approach. Having relevant work experience in planning, organising and promoting events and activities would be an advantage.
Appointment will initially be made on a 1-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
