Duties & Responsibilities

Lead analysis and writing of an in-depth report on drug trafficking sentencing patterns from 2,300+ Hong Kong court judgments.
Conduct descriptive and inferential quantitative analysis including regression, group comparisons, and trend analysis.
Analyse defendant characteristics, trafficking behaviours, and sentencing factors from coded case data.
Draft a comprehensive, practitioner-oriented report for an NGO partner serving youth offenders.
Relate findings to youth crime prevention and frontline support strategies.

Master's degree or above in socio-legal studies, Social Work, Criminology, Statistics/Data Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
Training in descriptive statistics, inferential analysis, and data visualisation.
Competence in at least one data analysis environment (R, Python, Stata, SPSS, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, analytical reports in English.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and interpret complex legal and social data.
Law degree or legal training is advantageous but not a substitute for quantitative methods skills.

Full-time; Contract — three months (commencing as soon as possible)
Senior Research Assistant appointment available for candidates with Ph.D. or equivalent research experience.
