Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the Technical Team in delivering technical support for administrative, teaching, learning, and research activities.
- Manage and optimize laboratory facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Plan and monitor the technical budget and resource allocation.
- Oversee procurement and inventory of equipment, instruments, and consumables.
- Develop, implement, and review standard operating procedures.
- Ensure a safe working environment and monitor compliance with laboratory safety regulations.
- Provide training and technical support to staff, students, and other users.
- Manage documentation and prepare technical, safety, and operational reports.
- Support departmental events, seminars, and outreach activities.
- Plan and execute works projects including formulating procurement strategies and managing tendering processes.
- Coordinate with internal units and liaise with external contractors.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline required; Master's degree is highly desirable.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required.
- At least 3 years of experience in staff supervision and laboratory management preferred.
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Mandarin).
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and laboratory management skills.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and procedures is advantageous.
- Experience working in a tertiary education institution is advantageous.
Appointment
- Full-time, two-year fixed-term contract with possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance; includes contract-end gratuity and University contribution to retirement benefits scheme (up to 10% of basic salary).
