Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical guidance on veterinary cases, surgical protocols, and anesthesia programs.
- Supervise and mentor the veterinary team of one Senior Veterinarian and two Veterinarians II.
- Oversee preventative medicine and health surveillance programs for research animal facilities.
- Manage daily workflows and deployment of technical and husbandry staff.
- Enforce compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and relevant Hong Kong legislation.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement operational improvements.
- Direct preparations for 2028/29 AAALAC International accreditation submission.
- Lead the Post-Approval Monitoring program to verify protocol compliance.
- Coordinate regulatory inspections and compliance reviews.
- Deputise for the Director on committees, planning sessions, and stakeholder consultations.
- Lead emergency preparedness protocols and biosecurity incident investigations.
- Contribute to strategic planning, facility design, and long-term sustainability.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus minimum 15 years of post-qualification administrative and operational experience.
- Veterinary qualification registrable in Hong Kong with specialisation or experience in laboratory animal medicine (highly preferable).
- Documented continuing professional development in laboratory animal science and welfare standards.
- Proven managerial and supervisory experience in a laboratory animal facility or regulated biomedical research environment.
- Excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills.
- Practical familiarity with AAALAC accreditation framework (highly advantageous).
Appointment
- Contract — 2 years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
