Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead research in social stratification, inequality, population studies, or related areas addressing fundamental sociological questions.
- Teach and develop curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in sociology.
- Secure competitive external research funding and produce high-impact publications.
- Mentor Ph.D. students and junior faculty while contributing to departmental and research centre leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Sociology, Demography/Population Studies, or closely related discipline.
- Exceptional track record of scholarly leadership with publications in leading journals and proven ability to secure research funding.
- Excellence in teaching and mentoring with experience in curriculum development.
- Research focus on social stratification, fertility/family/gender, population processes, education, or quantitative/longitudinal/computational sociology; expertise in Hong Kong, Mainland China, East Asia, or comparative methods preferred.
Appointment
- Full-time, three-year fixed-term contract with possibility of renewal, or direct tenure for exceptionally outstanding candidates.
