Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct scientific research to characterize materials and structures of Chinese paintings using advanced imaging technologies.
- Publish research findings in scholarly venues focused on cultural heritage science and technical art history.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with curators, conservators, and HKU faculty to foster research projects and publications.
- Teach one to two courses per year and offer one workshop on Chinese painting analysis.
- Travel to conferences and lead at least one international study trip with students to museums and conservation labs.
- Communicate scientific research findings to stakeholders including curators, conservators, professors, students, and the public.
Requirements & Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
- PhD in Conservation, Heritage, or Archaeological Science accepted as alternative.
- PhD must be completed prior to fellowship start date.

- Full-time contract — 3 years
