Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct scientific research to characterize materials and structures of Chinese paintings using advanced imaging technologies.
Publish research findings in scholarly venues focused on cultural heritage science and technical art history.
Maintain collaborative relationships with curators, conservators, and HKU faculty to foster research projects and publications.
Teach one to two courses per year and offer one workshop on Chinese painting analysis.
Travel to conferences and lead at least one international study trip with students to museums and conservation labs.
Communicate scientific research findings to stakeholders including curators, conservators, professors, students, and the public.

PhD in Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
PhD in Conservation, Heritage, or Archaeological Science accepted as alternative.
PhD must be completed prior to fellowship start date.
