Senior Manager (External Grants)

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership for the University's external research-funding portfolio and establish annual priorities and performance measures.
Oversee the full lifecycle of external grants from opportunity scanning through project closure, including compliance checks and award acceptance.
Lead and develop staff managing RGC schemes, Mainland grants, fellowship schemes and other sponsor portfolios.
Interpret sponsor requirements, resolve complex cases and maintain relationships with funding bodies, faculties and partner institutions.
Use portfolio data and funding intelligence to strengthen application quality and institutional competitiveness.

Bachelor's degree or above, preferably with a postgraduate qualification.
At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in research administration or grant management in higher education, with substantial supervisory or managerial experience.
Thorough knowledge of Hong Kong's research-funding landscape, including RGC and ITC schemes.
Proven leadership, project-management, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills with confidence to liaise with senior academics.
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
Strong digital literacy and ability to use research-information systems, data analytics and AI tools effectively.

Full-time fixed-term contract for 3 years; re-appointment subject to mutual agreement.
